Sr. Simone Campbell

Sr. Simone Campbell, SSS is a Catholic sister, attorney, and nationally recognized advocate for social justice. A member of the Sisters of Social Service, she is best known for her leadership as the longtime executive director of NETWORK, a Catholic social justice lobby in Washington, D.C.

Trained as a lawyer, Sr. Simone has spent decades working on behalf of the working poor, immigrants, and marginalized communities. She founded the Community Law Center in Oakland, California, and later served as General Director of her religious congregation, overseeing ministries in the United States and abroad.

Sr. Simone rose to national prominence through her leadership of the Nuns on the Bus movement, which brought faith-rooted advocacy for economic justice, healthcare, and human dignity into the public square. In recognition of her lifelong commitment to justice and peace, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2022.

Grounded in Catholic social teaching and shaped by a Benedictine spirituality, Sr. Simone continues to inspire people of all backgrounds to live faith boldly in service of the common good.
