Peter W. Yaremko

Peter W. Yaremko is an accomplished author, poet, and educator whose diverse career spans journalism, corporate communications, marketing, and literary pursuits. A former Ukrainian Catholic seminarian, Peter began his professional journey as a journalist in New York City before leading communications for two blue-chip multinational corporations, IBM and Siemens. Later, he founded and operated a successful marketing agency for two decades, partnering primarily with high-tech Silicon Valley firms.

As a writer, Peter has published both fiction and non-fiction works, along with poetry featured in numerous literary magazines. His weekly blog, running consistently for over eleven years, serves as a platform for his reflections and creative insights. Among his published books is Long Story Short, A Guided Journal, a thoughtful compilation of quotations from his blogs, books, and poetry, each accompanied by a blank page to inspire personal reflection. He also authored Billy of the Tulips, a novel that portrays a homeless boy’s raw encounter with innocence and iniquity. In Saints and Poets, Maybe, Peter offers a collection of essays that inspire readers to live with intention and authenticity. His memoir, Fat Guy in a Fat Boat, humorously recounts his misadventures as a novice sailor, while A Light from Within captures a year of life between Cape Cod and Vieques Island, offering a poetic glimpse into moments of tranquility and self-discovery.

Beyond his own writing projects, Peter has taught college writing classes and currently volunteers with the American Cancer Society in Manhattan. There, he leads poetry workshops designed to help cancer patients and caregivers process trauma and find emotional healing. His approach focuses on writing that soothes the spirit and fosters inner calm rather than simply improving literary skills. At Mercy by the Sea Retreat Center in Connecticut, he conducts day-long programs guiding participants to write poetry as a means of coping with grief, terminal illness, caregiving challenges, ruptured relationships, and the loss of purpose or hope.

Peter’s life has been shaped by profound personal experiences, including the loss of his wife of fifty years to breast cancer. Now residing across the street from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, he remains deeply committed to helping others find peace through writing. With wit and wisdom, he often reflects on his varied roles throughout life—playing at times the puppet, the pauper, the pirate, the poet, the pawn, and the king.

You can find his weekly blog and explore his publications at Pamet River Books.
