While the International Day of Peace is officially observed on September 21, we will gather a day earlier—on Saturday, September 20—to mark this special occasion together.

This year’s global theme is “End Racism, Build Peace.” Racism—whether expressed through individual attitudes, societal norms, or institutional structures—remains one of the most persistent threats to peace in our world today. Prejudice based on skin color, ethnicity, caste, religion, or nationality continues to fuel division and unrest, even in some of the most developed nations. The call to end racism is a call to restore harmony, protect human dignity, and create a future rooted in justice.

Our gathering will be led by Anisa Ralls, Chairperson of the Mental Health Ministry Committee for the Archdiocese of Seattle. Anisa brings deep compassion, lived experience, and a trauma-informed lens to her ministry. She creates safe, supportive spaces for exploring the intersections of faith, mental health, and social justice. Her approach is both grounded and inspiring, offering practical tools and spiritual insight for navigating life’s challenges with grace and resilience.

We invite you to set aside time for reflection, prayer, and meaningful conversation on what it truly means to be peacemakers in a fractured world. Whether through shared silence, dialogue, or contemplative practice, the International Day of Peace offers us a sacred pause—a chance to listen deeply, to reflect honestly, and to recommit ourselves to peace as a way of being.
